Bandits go down to a tired Oilers team.

Saturday night saw a tired Oilers team squeak the second win of a home and home series against the Brooks Bandits. The 4-3 win in double overtime was a hard fought contest where the Bandits were the better team on occasions. The teams were tied 1-1 after the first where the Oilers had their best period of the night.
The second period saw Brooks take it to us for most of the period, but the Oilers were fortunate to come out with a 3-3 tie. For about 3/4 of the third period, Brooks did everything except score. The Oilers showed they are playing their third game in 3 nights as the were outworked and outmuscled to the puck. They did wake up for the last 3 or 4 minutes and put pressure on the Bandits, but the period ended at the same score of the second 3-3.
The first overtime was mostly Oilers and the pressure caused the Bandits to take a penalty at the end of the extra 5 minutes. In the second overtime, the Oilers had a 4-3 man advantage and after a minute of powerplay pressure, Curtis Leinweber netted the winner.
It was a hard fought game, but they say good teams find ways of winning, and the Oilers found that little extra drive to come out victorious.
