Derek Rodwell choosen to play for Team Canada West

Okotoks Oilers Derek Rodwell has been selected to play for Team Canada West in the 2008 World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta this November.

Team Canada West General Manager Leonard Strandberg, Head Coach Boris Rybalka and the selection team selected Derek Rodwell, the Okotoks Oiler forward from 40 hopefulls that included Oilers goalie Sean Cahill, Forward James Bannister and Forward Corbin Knight.

It certainly is a high honor to be selected to try out for your country like these 4 Oilers did, but to be selected to the team like Derek Rodwell was is a dream come true for any Canadian hockey player.

The team is made up of players from the BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, and MJHL. The competition was tough and we can be proud of these guys for their early season accomplishments. What an honor for Derek and the Oilers!

Congratulations from your team, your family, your friends and your fans.
