The AJHL announces the following;
September 19 - The following players have each been suspended for one (1) game as a result of being involved in a fight while one was already in progress, during a September 19, 2008 game in Brooks:
- Brooks Bandits: Erik Toews, Dave Osborne, and David Briere
- Okotoks Oilers: Steven Papciak, Tyler Matthews, and Brandon Hoogenboom
I find it ironic that Steve Papciak had no choice but to stick up for himself. It was David Briere, the Brooks goalie that skated the length of the ice to tangle with Papciak. Sure, Briere got the extra 2 minutes for leaving the crease, but it's inexcuseable for a goalie to skate down to the other end unprovoked, to start a fight. He should have gotten a 3 game suspension at least!!
